Lee Begole, June 22nd, 2016
In this interview, Begole recounts his father's time serving in France, his own childhood on East Grand Boulevard, his time serving in World War II and the day the Allies marched into Rome. In 1967, he was the Director of Public Safety in Novi, MI. When they heard about the unrest in Detroit, he was hesitant to offer his new fire engine but he and a few of his men volunteered to come down and help with the situation. They attempted to help a man who was shot driving his car and were later accused by the FBI of shooting the man themselves.
